Shocking Statistics You Might Not Know About Electrical Work

LED Light Bulb Electrical Save Energy LED

We use electricity all the time, mostly without paying even the slightest attention to the process. If you have just realized that electricity is all around us, here are some facts about electrical work that you might find interesting:

  • The amount of energy used in the US doubles every two decades because of the rapid increase in the number of appliances used day by day;
  • There are roughly 350 fatalities related to electricity each year, which means almost one fatality each day;
  • With conventional light bulbs, only 10% of the electricity used is transformed into light – the rest is turned into heat. To reduce that waste, Arvada electricians recommend switching to LED lights that transform about 80% of the electrical current they use into light;
  • The production of electricity has a significant environmental impact – around half of the electricity produced in the US comes from burning coal. Many countries, however, have taken steps to reduce that impact, Iceland, for example, relies entirely on renewable energy sources;
  • Wiring regulations are becoming increasingly complex to include the requirements related to new appliances, machines and other inventions – the first document issued in 1882 was only 4 pages long, while the most recent one has around 560 pages.
